Every year, millions of children witness or experience domestic violence, leaving lasting emotional scars that require specialized care and support.
Children in crisis situations often lack access to immediate emotional support resources and comforting items designed specifically for their developmental needs.
Young survivors require care that acknowledges their unique experiences and provides age-appropriate comfort.
Traditional support systems may not reach children at the moment they need comfort most - during the immediate crisis period. Young survivors need items beyond basic necessities to emotionally process their experience.

The Safe Nest Project was born out of a simple but powerful idea: that children living through domestic violence deserve comfort, dignity, and care.
As I started learning more about domestic violence and its impact on families, I was especially struck by how often children are left out of the conversation, even though they experience deep emotional trauma. I spoke with advocates and people working in this space, and realized there was a gap: children need more than just safety. They need to feel seen, supported, and soothed in moments of crisis.
The Safe Nest Project is my way of responding to that gap. Through comfort kits filled with thoughtful items and emotional support resources, we aim to create small but meaningful moments of stability for children navigating unimaginably difficult situations.
